It seems like there was an afterparty at someone’s house every single weekend back in the 1980’s and 90’s; surreal back-to-mine sunrise rallies, post-club ravers domestic chill-out. Usually, everyone was loaded to the gills, too spannered to find their way home, thus leading to wild debauched sessions that lasted well into the next morning. I witnessed and DJed at quite a few of these little shindigs, usually on shoddy cobbled-together home stereo equipment or the homeowners little bedroom set-up, the crowd couch sat like stoned lemmings wide-eyed to every tune. You could play ANYTHING groove or drug orientated at these parties; there was even a famous Back-To-Mine series of DJ mixes made by celebrities during this era. It was what we did with our pre-millennium tension before the internet.

Of course, I made a mixtape back in the day so I could also journey with the others through inner-space. But my mix is quite different than most of the others from those days: I chose deep heavy psychedelic cuts from Pink Floyd, Amon Duul II, George Harrison’s Wonderwall Sound, Cosmic Jokers, and Butthole Surfers.
