At the end of last year, Grackle Art Gallery music director Kävin Allenson and I decided to work on an EP together to see where the perpetual musical winds took us. We first met when I moved back to Texas in 2017, finding major common-ground from diverse sounds like Steve Tibbetts, The Orb, Grateful Dead, Terje Rydal, and ECM Records. He’s also partners with artist Linda Little, someone that I have known since I was a teenager and who was a major influence on my younger artistic life. It was natural that we would work well together melodically, his guitar style and psychedelic flair the perfect foil for my electronic wanderlust and experimental nature. Our collaboration started with three music ideas that I had forged during Fall of last year; electronic beds, soundscapes, and basic floating-ideas which Kävin crafting into fully realized sonic works. We finished 25 minutes of music quite briskly, even carving a fourth new song out of one of his guitar outtakes. It was a very cathartic project, which will no doubt lead us into other new areas of collaboration in the future!
